Cocktail glasses explained
- Cocktail (coupe or martini) glass: for drinks served "up", with no ice. Chill it first.
- Old fashioned (rocks) glass: short and sturdy, for spirit-forward drinks over ice.
- Highball and Collins glasses: tall, for long drinks topped with soda or a mixer.
- Champagne flute: for sparkling cocktails.
- Specialty glasses: a hurricane glass, tiki mug, julep cup or copper mug adds to the theme of a drink but you can often use a highball or rocks glass instead.
