South Side cocktail recipe
Gin cocktail, shaken and served up (no ice, chilled glass). An IBA official cocktail (New Era Drinks).
Ingredients
- 2 oz (60 ml) London Dry Gin
- 1 oz (30 ml) Fresh Lemon Juice
- ½ oz (15 ml) Simple Syrup
- 5 Mint Leaves (5 or 6)
- few drops Egg White (optional)
Method
- Add everything to a shaker with ice and shake well (harder if using egg white).
- Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Glass: Cocktail glass · Garnish: Mint sprigs.
Variations and notes: If egg white is used shake vigorously.
This recipe uses raw egg. The CDC and USDA warn that raw eggs can carry Salmonella, so pasteurized egg whites are a safer choice, especially for children, older adults, pregnant people and anyone with a weak immune system.
